Ministry's Purpose:
Our mission is to lift up the name of the Lord in song, reach out to His people in fellowship, and live our lives in accordance to the word of God.
Our primary purpose in the ministry of music is to follow Christ. Secondly, we are to bring forth the good news of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through the ministry of song.
We believe God expects us to minister to His people in harmonies that touch souls and inspire those who may be searching to find the narrow way. We acknowledge that God wants us to be a light and a shining example for others to see the benefit in serving a true and living God.
Whom does this Ministry Serve?
The Music Ministry is one of the largest and most visible ministries in the church. We serve all the sectors within the five circles of commitment, which are: community, crowd, congregation, committed, and core. It is the goal of each member of the music ministry to become part of the "core" the centermost part of the circle of commitment.
Main Activities:
Activities outside of weekly rehearsals and worship service consist of ministry fellowship, which includes an annual Christmas party. When possible, we have a summer activity where we play softball or volleyball.
Meeting times:
Mass Choir rehearsals take place on Thursdays @ 6:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary.
The Music Ministry meets on Sunday morning @10:40 a.m. for prayer prior to worship service.
How does a person become a worker in the ministry?
Once you have completed New Members Orientation, you simply need to have an interest in ministering with your voice. You can express this interest to anyone in the music ministry and make arrangements to attend an upcoming choir rehearsal. We will evaluate your vocal ability and or tone your range and place you in the proper section of the choir.
Key scripture:
Psalm 100
Make a joyful noise onto the Lord all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before His presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord He is God it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good: His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endureth to all generations.
