Ricky was born in Pontotoc, Mississippi.  He moved to Grand Rapids in 1983, after completing his education at South Pontotoc High School.

Ricky has been a faithful member of Messiah Baptist Church since 1997 and proudly serves on the Men's Usher Board.  Besides attending bible study, Ricky enjoys spending time with his wife and five children, playing basketball, and cooking.

He gives his mother credit for teaching him about cleanliness and sanitation by watching and assisting her as a child.  These values followed Ricky throughout his life and are reflected in the work that he does here at New Hope.  He also worked as a custodian for Kent Skills and other area facilities.

"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" - Romans 10:17  This simple passage has had a great impact on Ricky's life, as he strives to live according to the word of God and shares his testimony with others.
